The Pilgrim’s Way

As I strolled along the Pilgrim’s Way with Dasher and my beloved pack, I couldn’t help but reflect on the journey of life, filled with both challenges and moments of triumph. It was a poignant reminder that there isn't always a simple solution to our struggles. After our visit to the vet referral centre, I learned that while many OCD issues in dogs have an 85% success rate with the removal of damaged cartilage, Dasher wasn’t among the fortunate ones. His fibrocartilage was uncomfortably rubbing in his right shoulder, leading to pain and inflammation.

The heartache of my dreams for a competitive Border Collie began to sink in as I faced the reality of Dasher’s ongoing lameness. It was a difficult adjustment, forcing me to reevaluate his training to better suit his needs. The consultant vet has proposed that we return in four months for the possibility of an implant that could alleviate his issues, though it’s important to remember that there are no guarantees.

Living with this uncertainty weighs heavily on my heart, but I find comfort in redirecting my focus to what truly matters: nurturing Dasher into the loving family companion we all cherish. His gentle spirit and affectionate nature make it easy to see the bright side. There’s nothing quite like curling up on the sofa together, where his warmth and snuggles remind me of the precious bond we share.
